The following is a song that may answer the question:
CHRIST IS THE ANSWER to all my longings;
CHRIST IS THE ANSWER to all my needs;
SAVIOR, BAPTIZER, THE GREAT PHYSICIAN
OH, ALLELUIA, HE IS ALL I NEED.
On further reflection, however, the following insights came to me which I would like to share.
1. CHRIST IS THE ANSWER to the VERY REASON OF OUR EXISTENCE.
I believe that CHRIST who is GOD became MAN so that we, men, could become like Him, a son of God. He has taught us to call God, OUR FATHER. Hence, it follows that we are God’ children.
2. CHRIST IS THE ANSWER to the SINFULNESS OF MEN.
Through His passion, death and resurrection, He has gained for men the GRACE OF REDEMPTION. So, for all who believe in Him, they can be forgiven of their sins and be reconciled with God.
3. CHRIST IS THE ANSWER to the CYCLE OF EVIL in this world.
Christ actually broke the cycle of evil in this world when He allowed himself to be crucified and put to death, without lifting a finger to defend himself. He even prayed: “Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing”. He, thus, taught us to “overcome evil with good”. This is the essence of the “NON VIOLENCE” theory.
4. CHRIST IS THE ANSWER to WHERE WE SHOULD BE.
St. Paul said in Philippians 3:20: “For us, our citizenship is in heaven, from where we await the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ, the Lord. He will transfigure our lowly body, making it like his own body, radiant in Glory, thru the power which is his to submit everything to himself.” Hence, our permanent address is HEAVEN. The Vatican II Weekday Missal says: “A Christian walks on earth but lives in heaven.”
5. CHRIST IS THE ANSWER to OUR IDENTITY.
The Vatican II Weekday Missal also says: “A Christian is ANOTHER CHRIST.” This is the task given to us – to become ANOTHER CHRIST. This is the Grace of Redemption that Christ has earned for us – to enable us to become like HIM – ANOTHER CHRIST.
